Comprehensive pesticide residue analysis in food requires multiple analytical techniques to address the diverse physiochemical properties and compound classes. Triple quadrupole mass spectrometry coupled to GC, LC, and IC addresses this challenge and maximizes coverage, providing the necessary specificity and sensitivity to meet regulatory guidelines. Thermo Fisher Scientific offers all three technologies, as well as everything that is required for sample preparation, separation, and analysis/reporting. Advances such as automated on-line cleanup of sample extracts, tandem dual UHPLC chromatographic systems, and pre-defined workflow solutions increase productivity and add confidence to your data.

Presenter: Scott Peterman (Analytical Instruments Group, Sr Product Marketing Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

Scott Peterman received his PhD in analytical chemistry at Texas A&M University in 2001 under Prof. David H. Russell. He joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2001 as an application chemist working on high-end mass spectrometers. He moved to the proteomics marketing group to develop the targeted peptide quantitation program where he directed and managed supporting software development. From there he moved to the Biomarker Research Initiatives in Mass Spectrometry (BRIMS) laboratory to further develop translational and clinical research workflows. In 2018, Scott was promoted to Sr. Global Product Marketing Manager focusing on ion mobility and Tribrid mass spectrometers.

Presenter: Ed George (Analytical Instruments Group, Vertical Marketing Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific)

Ed George has a BS in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame with concentration in Environmental Science. He worked for 15 years in the environmental laboratory industry, holding positions of Lab Technician, Lab Manager, and R&D Manager, responsible for developing novel sample preparation and analytical methods in soil and water on GC/MS/MS and LC/MS/MS platforms. He participated in several collaborative method development projects with the USEPA. In 2014, he joined Thermo Fisher Scientific and is currently a Senior Applications Scientist. He has worked closely with key collaborators on food safety and environmental projects in universities and industry and has recently developed workflow applications for pesticide and veterinary drug residues in food on both LC/MS/MS and high-resolution MS platforms.
