Advances in FAME Analysis by GC/FID with different carrier gases
Agilent Technologies: Advances in FAME Analysis by GC/FID with different carrier gases
The characterization of fatty acids is one of the major applications of gas chromatography in edible vegetable oils, like palm oil, canola oil, etc. In general, GC can be applied to the analysis of intact lipids, such as triacylglycerols, or the analysis of the fatty acid composition based on fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) profiling.
A broad range of columns and stationary phases are available for vegetable oil analysis.
In this webinar, some of our new GC column technology for the fast analysis of these FAMEs is presented, and the GC column selection is discussed. Based on the complexity of the samples, different column technologies can be applied, and a trade-off can be made between sample throughput and resolution. We will also show the difference in analysis time and separation when switching from Helium to alternative carrier gases, like Nitrogen.
