Power Ahead with Ammonia

Ammonia is emerging as both a hydrogen carrier and a direct fuel, offering potential for large-scale energy applications. Its broader adoption, however, depends on strict monitoring of purity and the efficiency of cracking processes that release hydrogen for end use.
This session will outline the role of gas chromatography (GC) in supporting ammonia across its value chain. Topics include analysis of synthesis and transport streams, detection of residual hydrogen and nitrogen, and quantification of trace contaminants that affect performance and safety. In addition, the session will cover GC-based characterization of hydrogen produced through ammonia cracking, ensuring suitability for downstream industrial and mobility applications.
By connecting ammonia’s role as an energy carrier with the analytical workflows required for reliable operation, the session highlights how GC supports its transition from concept to commercial deployment.
