Topic 1: Trace and Ultra Trace levels of Micro Nano Plastics using Py-GCMS (20 minutes)

Pyrolysis–GC/MS is increasingly demonstrating its capabilities for mass-based analysis of micro and nano-plastics. This seminar aims to provide an overview of the Pyrolysis–GC/MS technique and explain its application for the direct analysis of micro- and nano-plastics from various environmental matrices, enabling both identification and quantification.

Topic 2: Advancing Trace-Level Chemical Analysis with the Agilent 5977C GC/MSD: Sensitivity, Stability, and Smart Performance for Modern Laboratories (20 minutes)

As analytical laboratories face increasing pressure to deliver faster results, lower detection limits, and greater operational efficiency, choosing the right GC/MS platform has never been more critical. The Agilent 5977C GC/MSD represents the latest evolution in single quadrupole mass spectrometry, delivering enhancements that directly address today’s analytical challenges—whether in environmental testing, materials analysis, food safety, or industrial applications.

In this webinar, we will introduce the key capabilities of the Agilent 5977C GC/MSD, including advanced ion source technologies, improved robustness and system intelligence, and workflow-friendly software tools that support confident, reproducible quantification.

Presenter: Dr. Sathrugnan Karthikeyan (Regional Technical Manager, Frontier Laboratories, Japan)

Dr. Sathrugnan Karthikeyan received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and did postdoctoral research in the USA, Japan, and Singapore universities. He has over 20 years of experience in analytical chemistry, food, and environmental safety fields of research. He is currently working as the Regional Technical Manager for Frontier Laboratories, Japan

Presenter: Dr. Shruthi Kini (GC/GCMS Product Specialist, Agilent Technologies, Singapore)

Dr. Shruthi Kini holds a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She first gained experience with Agilent’s instruments as a customer before joining Agilent in 2021. Shruthi currently serves as a Product Specialist for GC and GC/MS solutions, supporting Singapore and South Asia.

Originally a Research Scientist, she has in-depth knowledge of Agilent’s GC and GC/MS systems, with expertise in method development, method transfer, and validation for a wide range of analytical samples, including flavor compounds, edible oils, microbial, and clinical samples.
